Linda Marie (nee Dinneen) Kenigsberg was born August 5, 1941 in Rock Island, Illinois. She left us peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 14, 2023. Loving wife of 59 years to Will Kenigsberg. Preceded in death by son Michael. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law Tom and Katie & David and Paige. Grandmother to Cristina, Ryan, Jared, Matthew (Zara), Nathan, Connor, and Timothy. Oldest daughter of Joseph Malachy Dinneen (5/14/1920) and Ann Catherine Dinneen (3/12/1917), caring sister (sister-in-law) of Jim (Sharon), Joe (Sharon), Pat (Mieko), Cathy, Danny (Peggy and Marilyn), Theresa (Martin), David (Cat), Rita (Guy) and Marty (Ramina).

Linda’s desire to do something meaningful in her life led her to pursue a nursing degree in Peoria, Illinois, and she began her professional career in Chicago. This led to her meeting Will, who had been in a life-threatening auto accident and was hospitalized. His interest in her was not initially matched by hers, but Will’s persistent admiration of her eventually won her attention. They were married in Rock Island, Illinois on July 18, 1964. They lived in Chicago, where Tom was born in 1965. In 1967 the family moved to California, followed by the births of David in 1968 and Michael in 1972.

Linda was a supportive and encouraging mother, believing her children and grandchildren could successfully pursue their dreams. She coached baseball with Will, serving as an awesome third base coach. This showed her desire to participate in the lives of her boys. She encouraged her sons academically and socially, driving them to various events and believing that they could achieve great things. She took great pride in the impact her sons’ lives have had on the people they have served.

She was an example of believing in one’s ability to succeed. After raising her children, she went back to work in the 80’s as a claims analyst, and with Will’s encouragement finished her career as a CEO of an insurance administration company. She used her earnings to generously pay for all her children’s educational expenses, again showing the value she placed on her sons’ success. Her excellent executive skills led to several requests from the company’s board of directors to postpone her retirement.

Linda was an avid traveler, who wanted to teach her children a love for seeing other places while broadening their view of the world. When the family was young, this led to non-glamourous road trips to such places as Willits to see the Skunk Train. The whole family slept in a station wagon. Later trips included Mexico, Hawaii, Italy, and Costa Rica. Linda longed for family time together, sharing her resources to create special memories. This also became a personal passion, and she and Will travelled and cruised the globe as a couple. She visited over 90 countries around the world.

Her relationships with family and friends were an immensely important part of her life. She felt extremely connected to her siblings, nieces, and nephews, always tracking birthdays and life milestones. Her love of family included her extended family as well, eventually leading her to devote hours to researching the clan’s genealogy. She appreciated people, forming deep, often lifelong friendships, whether with friends from the neighborhood, colleagues from work who became true friends, and through her involvement with Will’s MIT college friends. She enjoyed simply spending time with people and was always ready to get out of the house to spend time talking and sharing. More recently, she enjoyed spending time with others through her new passion, playing bridge.

She will be laid to rest near her darling son Michael. She loved Michael’s long curly hair, playfulness, and laughter.

For her loving husband, she was so many mosts - most beautiful, most intelligent, most honest, most hard working, most funny, most best mother, and occasionally, the most playfully scary. And always the most loving.

She will be dearly missed, and loved forever. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to doctorswithoutborders.org.

Kathleen Rogers

Kathleen Elizabeth Rogers

Los Angeles, California

Interment of Cremated Remains: Residence

Kathleen Elizabeth Rogers, 81, of San Jose, California passed away on August 30, 2023 after surviving cancer for years. Kathleen, known as Kay, was born on July 21, 1942 to Irish parents, John and Mary Rogers in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. After immigrating to England with her sister, Margaret, Kay worked in London before continuing to the United States on a secretarial visa.

She travelled throughout the East Coast and the South with a friend, working as a waitress and volunteering at a school for the blind before landing in San Francisco. In the late sixties, early seventies, Kay joined the freedom movement by protesting for liberal causes. During this time, she met life-long friends in the city.

Eventually, Kay settled in San Jose- becoming a US citizen and homeowner. She worked for the City of San Jose for 23 years until retirement. Starting as an apprentice mechanic for the police, Kay moved departments and became the first female street sweeper operator in California. She also proudly worked repairing streets as part of the “Hot Gang”- so nicknamed, as summer days in the Valley were scorching when the crew poured asphalt.

Always active in sports, Kay played tennis with regular partners in community courts around the South Bay. She ran dozens of 10K races and completed the San Francisco marathon. Finally, in her seventies, she practiced hot yoga daily as part of Bikram Yoga San Jose.

Kay also loved Guadalajara Market burritos with hot sauce, films based on true stories, gardening and laughing a lot – with friends and at herself.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Rogers, of Los Angeles; her sister, Margaret Bass, of Orpington, England; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Mauritius, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Kay was predeceased by her sisters Ann and Frances in Africa; and by many stray pets she adopted from the streets including dogs Muffin, Linus and Scrappy Do.

Gloria Cubberly (nee Bardroff) peacefully embarked on her final journey from this world on August 6, 2023, leaving behind a legacy as a loving wife, cherished daughter and sister, accomplished professional, beloved friend, and above all, a nurturing mother and grandmother. Born on April 22, 1954 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Gloria was the beloved daughter of Harold and Gloria Bardroff (nee Marchetti). The oldest of three siblings: Harold Bardroff, Alan Bardroff, and Laura Zieger, together, they shared a strong bond that was a source of joy, support, and lasting connections throughout their lives.

Gloria embarked on a journey of love and family, becoming a devoted wife on June 6, 1981 to Ken Cubberly. Together they shared 42 years of a beautiful marriage, enjoying the beach, trying new restaurants, and just spending time together. She also loved training her dog, Rocco, spa days, traveling, and playing Bingo! She found immense joy in basking under the warm embrace of the sun.

Above all, Gloria was a loving mother to her children: Keith Bardroff, Candice Pena, Kristy Cubberly, and Kassie Cubberly. Her role as a mother was her most cherished and rewarding. Gloria's love extended to the next generation as she and Ken embraced the role of grandparents with open arms. She shared a special bond with her grandchildren: Eddie Pena, Emily Pena, Abby Pena, Mya Urias, Ava Urias, Lea Urias, Aly Urias, Kendra Toledo, and the expected arrival of Roy Toledo, Jr.. Her love and wisdom were woven into the fabric of their lives, leaving an everlasting impact on their hearts and minds.

While Gloria's motherly love was the cornerstone of her life, she also excelled professionally in the healthcare industry, where her dedication and drive earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends. Her relentless pursuit of knowledge led her to become an EKG Tech II at El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos, California. While there, her incredible smile and beautiful attitude left a mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.

Though she is no longer with us, the love, guidance, and nurturing spirit of Gloria will continue to shine brightly through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and all those she touched. May she find eternal peace and rest.

March 2024

Dear Family and Friends:

It is with great sadness that we must tell you that our brother, Kenneth (Kenny) Maysenhalder, passed away last year on July 30, 2023. Kenny grew up in San Jose and Santa Clara, California, and attended Bellarmine High School, where he was frequently on the honor role. After high school he attended Santa Clara University and UC Berkeley, before getting drafted and sent to Vietnam.

While in Vietnam, Kenny had a nervous breakdown after four months of heavy combat. After several hospitalizations, both in Japan and at Fort Lewis, Washington, the home base for his Army Division, he was given a medical discharge. After the war Kenny worked for the US Post Office and for a brief time had his own painting company. He went back to school at San Jose State and eventually got a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

Kenny battled mental illness and PTSD for the rest of his life. He was able to live independently and when he could not, he was cared for at the Veterans’ hospitals in Palo Alto and Menlo Park, and in Veterans’ outsourced housing. Sometimes he would go off his medication and become homeless for days or weeks at a time. In late 2022 and early 2023 Kenny was living on the street when he suffered a series of falls which eventually led to surgery for a fractured hip at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto. Whether it was cardiovascular disease or complications from the falls, Kenny passed, at the age of 76, at Creekside Post-acute Care, San Jose. Ken will always be remembered for his generosity to his family, his friends, even to complete strangers when he was homeless, and for his tenacity in fighting the stigma of mental illness.

We invite you and your family to attend the burial of his remains at 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the California Central Coast Veteran’s Cemetery, 2900 Parker Flats Rd, Seaside, California, 93955, on the old Fort Ord base. We would also like to invite you to help scatter his ashes on Monterey Bay by boat from the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor the next afternoon, Friday, June 28, from 1 to 2 pm, We hope you will join other family and friends for at least one of these two events and for a no-host meal after ceremonies on each day.

Donations can be sent in Ken’s name to:

Interment of Cremated Remains: Residence

Phillip Wright Selby passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023 at the age of 74. He called the bay area his home throughout his life. Phil was surrounded by family until his death, and he took great pride in his loved ones. Phil was dearly loved by his family and friends. Nothing made him happier than cooking for a crowd, telling old stories, and enjoying time at meals filled with laughter and good food.

Phil was born on October 19, 1949 in San Francisco to Dorothy and Walter Selby. After being raised in Berkeley and El Cerrito and graduating from El Cerrito High School, he spent his life in the East Bay. He raised his family and retired in Pleasant Hill.

As a professional in the retail and grocery industry, Phil worked hard to offer customers a friendly and high quality experience. He loved to talk about fine foods and wines, and how the two could create a great dining experience. While he was committed to sales, he was always genuine with customers. Phil created strong relationships with his co-workers and created many lifelong friends at Piedmont Grocery.

In retirement, Phil enjoyed memorable vacations to Spain, Portugal, and France. These trips were filled with sightseeing and fine food. His wife Esther joined him on these trips, and Phil was ecstatic to have such a great travel partner. They also enjoyed trips to Canada, Southern California, and family visits to Oregon and Washington.

She got a taste of real Navy life in 1952 when she accompanied her mom to join her dad who had been transferred to NAS Atsugi, Japan. They returned on the USNS Frederick Funston to the Seattle area in 1954 and spent several years as a “Navy Brat” at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington.

After initial training with the San Jose Police Department, Diana became a Santa Cruz County Deputy Sherriff in 1975. She was one of 12 women accepted by the agency. Her training officer said “…She was a hard charger and tough as woodpecker lips. On patrol, she was a good cop, highly skilled with the baton and fearless in tense engagements. Diana exhibited professionalism, willingness to volunteer and gracious relationships with all whom she encountered. She always gave 100%, despite not always being acknowledged by her peers. She was the go-to senior executive for the local branch of the International Police Association (IPA) person for decades.”

Diana had joined the Santa Clara Valley Council of the US Navy League and became an active participant in running the Ship Sponsor Program for USCG Cutters Stratton and Bertholf. She accepted the position as the Council’s Treasurer, which she held until she could no longer participate.

Diana spoke passionately about a small clinic in Nairobi, Kenya that she had established. She supported the clinic by raising donations here at home to provide medical supplies. She also supported two students at a nearby girls’ school, buying their uniforms and paying their annual tuition. It was her dream to bring these young ladies to the U.S. to continue their education, but was unable to raise the necessary funds.

Diana joined the Moffett Field Historical Society in 2011 and volunteered in the Museum as Admissions Receptionist, Gift Shop Assistant Manager and docent, escorting visitors through the various displays and venues.

During this period, Diana was instrumental in re-opening the shuttered Naval Air Station Moffett Chapel for active Sunday services under the auspices of the U.S. Army’s chaplains’ service. Following its opening she attended regularly with her dogs.

A memorial service for her will be held at the Moffett Chapel in coordination with her Police League friends on August 20 following the regular 1000 service.

She loved getting together with her friends to sew, go out to dinner and movies and play cards with the girls. She loved calling her life long friends and checking on them.

Even through hard struggles with health issues, she pushed through her body's weaknesses and chose to serve and love and nurture. We will all miss her very much.

Annmarie Eyers

Annmarie Eyers
August 31, 1962 - April 1, 2023
Santa Clara, California

Interment of Cremated Remains: Residence

Annmarie Eyers was born in San Jose, California and passed away in Santa Clara, California. She was 60 years old.

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Annmarie (Burriesci) Eyers on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Annmarie was born on August 31, 1962, the third of four children of Salvador Victor Burriesci (deceased) and Carol Jean (Sommer) Burriesci.

An extremely bright and happy child, she attended Mariposa Elementary, St. Justin, Curtis Junior High, and Emil R. Buchser High School. She earned an associate degree from West Valley College in Saratoga, California.

In high school, Annmarie not only excelled academically, but was also active on the school’s dance team, the Bruinettes, for 3 years, and she was Head Bruinette in her senior year. Annmarie continued her friendships with her classmates throughout the ensuing years by planning several high school reunions and serving as the alumni representative for the Buchser Class of 1980.

While working at Wells Fargo Bank in 1983, Annmarie met her future husband, Cecil Eyers. In earlier years, Cecil and Annmarie traveled extensively and had many adventures, but Annmarie was the epitome of support and gave new meaning to the term “holding down the fort” while Cecil went on hunting or fishing trips several times a year. Together they expanded their family room to display his hunting trophies, including a towering ten-foot-tall brown bear. They built a beautiful life together for over 40 years. She was Cecil’s best friend and the love of his life.

For years, Annmarie helped Cecil run his business (Eyers Hitch Center) by maintaining the books, managing payroll, and attending to all things financial. She had an excellent business mind.

Annmarie was passionate about her family and was fondly known as “Auntie Ree” to seven of the luckiest nieces and nephews who ever lived. The love, attention, and time she devoted to these kids (now adults) over the years were nothing short of amazing. She supported her family 100% and was actively involved in all family gatherings.

Annmarie suffered from Polycythemia Vera, a blood disorder that took her from us way too soon. She is survived by her loving husband, Cecil F. Eyers of Santa Clara, CA, her mother, Carol Burriesci of Colorado Springs, CO, her sister Maryrose Hutchinson (Will) of Sebastopol, CA, her brother Robert Burriesci (Holly) of Gilroy, CA, and her sister Lily Lauer (John) of Granbury, TX. She was pre-deceased by her father, Salvador Burriesci in 2012. Annmarie leaves behind her nieces and nephews Kelli Jennings (Cody), Jonathan Lamb (Elizabeth), Kyle Burriesci, Mark Burriesci, Jake Lauer (Nikayla), Josh Lauer, Ariel Lauer, great-nephews Sawyer Jennings and Mitchell Lamb and great-niece Kylie Lauer. Annmarie was stepmother to Eric Eyers of Santa Clara, CA and step-grandmother to Melissa Brewer and Mathew Eyers (Magda) of Santa Clara, CA. Lastly, she was “mommy” to her beloved Cocker Spaniels, Holly, Brandi (RIP), and Lexi (RIP).

Per Annmarie’s wishes, no services were held and a private Memorial gathering has already taken place with her immediate family.

The family thanks Beddingfield Funeral Service of San Jose, California.

Celebration of Life: Saturday, March 18, 2023, 2:00 PM at the IOOF Hall, 20589 Homestead Rd, Cupertino, CA
Interment: Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Los Altos, CA

Marjorie Gilbert was born in Wheeler, Oregon and passed away in Cupertino, California. She was 99 years old.

Marge Gilbert, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and dedicated community volunteer died on February 17, three days after her 99th birthday. She passed away in the Cupertino home where she and her late husband, Joe, had raised their six children.

A stay-at-home mom, Marge was active in Cupertino’s Welcome Wagon, serving as its president, helping to organize bridge groups and its gourmet club. She also volunteered at Faria School when it opened, serving as a room mother in her children’s classes and volunteering to sell juice bars every Friday at the school with no cafeteria.

Once her fifth child began school, Marge volunteered with Children’s Home Society, helping to care for infants in a county hospital. She gave up that role when she delivered her sixth child, at 44, and became a full-time mom.

She and Joe volunteered together and independently in the community. They helped found Belles and Beaus, raising money for the Santa Clara County Mental Health Association. They served as leaders of Cupertino National Little League, he as president, she as treasurer, and were active in Monta Vista High School’s PTA and Booster Club. Marge again helped at Faria School, serving as PTA president and school volunteer, and she taught catechism at St. Joseph’s of Cupertino Church.

Marge was active in Cupertino Federated Women’s Club, twice serving as president and was the long-time treasurer. She was supervisor of the neighborhood voting precinct for 25 years. She volunteered at Los Gatos Community Hospital for 30 years. She served as chair of the Girl Scout cookie drive several times.

Her greatest cause was her family, and she attended all of her children’s and grandchildren’s games, dance performances, speech tournaments and theatre productions. There wasn’t a student event she didn’t volunteer to chaperone and transport students to.

Marge was known for her cooking and her hospitality. She and Joe enjoyed sharing their home and backyard pool with friends, and their Fourth of July parties were legendary with 70 people or more.

Marjorie Jean was born to Frank and Clara in Wheeler, Ore., where her father was a scaler for the lumber mill and her mother was postmistress and pianist for silent movies. The family briefly lived in Tacoma, Wash., then moved to Salem, Ore., where she graduated from Salem High School.

She met her future husband as a journalism student at the University of Washington, where she pledged Kappa Delta Sorority and remained a member. She earned her degree from Washington and worked as a reporter for The West Seattle Herald until Joe returned from World War II duty, completed his degree and began his newspaper career. He later went to work for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph, which moved the family from Washington to California.

Marge Gilbert is survived by five children, Maureen, Kirk (Teri), Annette Iwamoto (Stan), Lori and Chris (Tisha), two grandchildren, Kelly (Jesse) and Brett (Tian Tian) and three great grandchildren (Audrey, Zach and Dash). She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Gilbert, her daughter, Sandra, parents, sister Frances and brother Charles.

A celebration of life is scheduled for March 18 at 2 p.m. at the IOOF Hall, 20589 Homestead Rd., Cupertino. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery is private.

Memorial Mass: Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 11:00 AM at Santa Teresa Catholic Church, San Jose, CA
Interment of Cremated Remains: Calvary Catholic Cemetery, San Jose, CA

On February 6th, the anniversary of our mother‘s passing, our brother Joseph John Eaton (Jay) passed away at the age of 63. He was residing in Milpitas, California at the time of his death.

Jay was born on June 27, 1959 in San Jose, California. He graduated from Gunderson High School in 1977 and then attended San Jose City College where he received a degree in electronics and a minor in music.

Some great memories are of Jay’s trumpet playing years. He had been in several jazz bands in his younger years winning many awards and honors. He was a big jazz enthusiast, some of his favorite artists included Miles Davis and Doc Severinsen. His 40+ year work history was in Santa Clara County and occasionally overseas. He worked as a senior electronics engineering technician and eventually bought his own company “Dance Music Productions.” Being a DJ suited Jay’s personality and he became very successful for many years before selling his business. Those were happy times for many years with his wife Lucia Aviles and their sons, Joey and Kevin. There were always large family gatherings with great Nicaraguan food, lots of dancing and parties, holiday gatherings and fun memories that will always have a special place in all our hearts.

Jay’s life then took on some turns and he eventually made plans to leave California and move to Thailand. This is where he met Ann. Ann and Jay began their life together with a ceremonial wedding and they later welcomed the birth of their daughter, Sammy. Jay loved his new family and wanted to stay in Thailand though he could not find work. One year later Jay returned to California.

The families share their sadness at Jay’s passing and hope he has found eternal peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. We love and miss him.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Francis Eaton, and mother, Margaret Caroline Eaton.

He is survived by his love, Ann Thepnuan, and their child, Sarocha (Sammy) Thepnuan; Jay’s two sons, Joseph Robert Aviles, Kevin Michael Eaton and his spouse, Allyson Marie Eaton; Jay’s 3 grandchildren, Joseph Robert Aviles Jr., Mia Love Aviles and Henlee June Eaton; his sister, Leslie Eileen Canal; his brothers, Christopher Robert Eaton and Mark William Eaton, and his nieces and nephews.

You are welcome to attend Joseph Eaton’s memorial service which will be held at Santa Teresa Catholic Church 794 Calero Ave. San Jose, California 95123 on March 15, 2023 at 11:00am.
